Personal T1D Frustrations..

Personal T1D Frustrations..

There are several general medical and physical complications as a Diabetic, no matter type 1 or 2. Of course, however... I will generally be focused on T1D as I am personally affected by it.

Allow me to list them out for easier readability (beware.. it's gonna be a longggg list):

Starting out with simpler things

  1. Scars heal slower:
Generally high blood sugar is going to be the no.1 biggest problem and factor behind slow healing for your wounds. So.Get.That.Blood.Sugar.Under.Better.Control. After that, we also have a general autoimmune problem or.. deficiency, so naturally without that properly at work, our wounds could be easily infected and all other complications can occur. And lastly, poor circulation. We apparently also have the possibility of poor blood circulation (of course also due to high blood sugar), but my blood circulation was also affected by Birth Control pills. I was suggested not to take a specific brand of Birth control pills, as they've had side effects of causing even worse circulations.
Absolute side note: The easiest way to avoid all that medical birth control pill problems, I'd just suggest an IUD.

Funny enough..
I find everything else as complicated things:

  1. Hypoglycemia:
Or "Hypo" when you get extremely low blood sugar. For.. taking too much insulin (or sooo many other aspects). What happens is.. you get tired.. you get annoyed.. you cannot use your brain to focus on anything... you get hungry.. you may even start to lose a bit of your sight.. you start cold sweating.. everything and everyone is ANNOYING. And if.. you happen to be at a supermarket you're going to want to buy a whole aisle of food. What sucks even more, is when you try to eat candy, a sugar tablet, or drink some sugar-ed drink and you're in some formal situation and just have to somehow.. pass your way to reviving yourself before you pass out. And.. if you just not eat anything to recover for a long time you could die :D.

I have passed out many times, but passing out for me was funny enough, not passing out as in knock out dead. It was more like I became a baby, I babbled, I puked any juice that anyone tried to feed me, and I just mummbled and refused stuff. But situation differs by person.

  1. Hyperglycemia:
Or.. omg how did you guess?! "Hyper"! (# ̄ω ̄). Generally.. a bunch of complications will take affect in the long term. Such as.. losing sight, losing the ability to walk, nerve damage (neuropathy), worse blood circulation, oh and never forget Ketoacidosis: dehydration, built up ketones (acids), horrifying stomach ache, and then horrifying treatment for at least a week in the hospital when you've hit ketoacidosis. You could also hit coma and also die! (Wow, we are reaching death everywhere).

  2. Things that affects your blood sugar to Hypos or Hypers:
EVERYTHING. This might be the shortest explanation yet. Yes, I mean it.. everything. You didn't eat, you eat, you slept, you didn't sleep, you stress, you game, you walk, the weather, the season, the time of the day, you .. heck you talk and that can also affect your bloodsugar (#`Д´) <- raging also affects.

  3. Corrections:
A term used by doctors and medical staffs and.. for us we'll just explain it as call the amount of insulin taken slightly before bed to make sure it's at a stable level so we don't go Hypo or Hyper while we are asleep. Generally anything you do throughout the day that is no affected by what you've eaten is correction. But for easier understanding, I'm just gonna categorize it as the insulin you take before you go to bed to get it to a good number.
And brief reminder.. even SLEEPING affects our blood sugar. I struggle with this, as I've had an enormous amount of Hypos while I slept.. and its not exactly predictable. Sometimes I leave my blood sugar at 9 to be safer. Next thing you know I'm shooting up to 11 around 2am. Or I stay around 8 to .. be even safer.. next thing you know I'm at a 4.2 ((╬◣﹏◢)).

  4. We really do get very tired of it all..:
And that is also one of the most troublesome of all. We go through these every single day and even more, and we just get tired. We get tired of ourselves, of people we affect, of people we trouble to help or take care of us, and in general just wtf Pancreas.

T1D (also T2D) is not just some simple matter. We don't have a cure. Insulin is just a temporary medication to keep us alive. Diabetics needs support and understanding. We are not intentionally trying to be difficult, but life is just difficult on a daily basis. Give us a cheer! Don't judge us, and we're always open to questions if you are generally curious about aspects of Diabetes. You could also be a victim of Diabetes sometime down the road! Don't ignore it!
