Traveling abroad again? Or perhaps it's your first time travelling on that scary but fascinating machine that soars over the sky?

Let's cut the chit chat and get straight to the point, there is always a few points you HAVE to be aware of before stepping out that door.

Not the most enjoyable time, if I may add, but definitely gotta remember a few points:

  1. Re-count all supplies before you leave your place:

This includes: Insulin, Needles, Needle inserters, test strips, alcohol swabs*, Insulin pen (or what you use as emergency insulin kit), and last but not least snacks* for hypo, and Glucagon if you're a hypo type of person.

  • Bolded are MUST HAVES. Underscored with * are those.. that you can afford not to bring as you can purchase at your destination or at the airport.

2. Have snacks before boarding that plane:

Seriously. I mean there are free drinks and small snacks on board, but do you really want to be bothering the air waitress the whole time while you shiver due to Hypo and scare the crap out of her? Let's avoid that.

Grab some gummy bears or such (you know.. the major sugar boosters) as you have to turn your pump on Airplane mode during the flight.

If you've been like me, taking those 14 to 16 hour straight flights. Your sensor can't be on for this whole time. Have those gummi bears, those chocolates, those M&Ms, whatever it may be to ensure you stay alive during your flight!

Interestingly enough, I thought I'd have more points. But I covered a number of stuff just in point #1.

And there you have it!! The two major tips I have for T1D (and Pump Users) during flight. If there are any points I forgot, definitely comment below so I can edit it in.

Keep it up T1D survivors ;)
